Promoting better understanding from tradition to tradition…
For many years the IRT has hosted visits to many sacred spaces in order to promote better understanding from tradition to tradition. For those who have participated in all of these, our total number of visits equals twenty-three.
Our current approach is to concentrate less on multiple visits and more on hearing multiple voices/stories. These included Muslims, Jews, members of LGBTQ communities, immigrants, those who worry about losing their health insurance or those with disabilities.
Because of the current political climate, we have designed a program that will focus on reaching across the great divides that seem to exist in our country. Yes, it’s even to hard to talk with some people. Are there ways for this to change? Are their resources within our own faith traditions? We think so. “Reaching Across Divides – Conversations That Matter in Today’s World” was held on four evenings last October. It will be repeated soon.
