Places of Faith
Promoting better understanding from tradition to tradition…
For several years now the IRT has been hosting visits to many sacred spaces in order to promote better understanding from tradition to tradition. For those who have participated in all of these, our total number of visits equals twenty-three.
Our next approach will concentrate less on multiple visits and more on hearing multiple voices/stories. In recent months we have noticed an increase in the uneasiness of numbers of groups, either by faith traditions (ie. Muslims, Jews) or groups within many congregations (ie. members of LGBTQ communities, immigrants, those who worry about losing their health insurance or those with disabilities).
We are currently planning a one evening event this spring that will feature several religious leaders from a variety of faith traditions addressing their perception of being marginalized or targeted, and how the interfaith community can show our support and solidarity.
