There’s no better way to learn about other faith traditions and spiritual paths in our community than by hearing the faith story directly from those who practice it. \nKelly Gauthier is a lifelong Catholic who has been a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor for 20+ years and a member of the parish’s Peace & Justice Committee for 15 years. She is a licensed social worker with an MSW degree from the University of Michigan and has worked as the Project Coordinator of a grant-funded high school program for at-risk students\, as a hospital social worker in Jackson\, and in various positions in a four-county affiliation of community mental health agencies. She currently writes and edits sales proposals for the state and local government division of IBM Consulting. \nKelly has a long history of volunteering\, including serving as a Board member for the IRT since 2015. She worked on welfare simulations for ICPJ for many years and served as a mentor for a domestic violence program and as an advocate for Washtenaw County Welfare Rights Union. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie\, Michigan\, has lived in Ann Arbor since 1997 with her husband and two children. She holds undergraduate degrees in Sociology and English Language and Literature from Lake Superior State University.

They will learn and gain practice in specific skills and tools that are useful both in conflict intervention situations and in daily life\, including: \n\nActive Listening\nThe Importance of Body Language\nPersonal Power Messages\nThe CLARA technique\n\nCoffee/tea\, snacks\, and lunch will be provided. (vegetarian-friendly lunch). A full color training manual will be provided on site. Please bring pen/pencils to take notes. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER for this event and attend a full day to complete this training to get the certificate. Please plan to arrive early for the breakfast as we start at 9:00 am \nPARKING\nSix spots are available at Canterbury House (721 E Huron St\, Ann Arbor). Greer Cherney (Community Life Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church\, Ann Arbor) and how her faith traditions and practices shaped her perspectives and journey in life. \nEvery First Wednesday of the month @ 7:00-8:00pm on ZOOM \nThrough the Faith Stories series\, Interfaith Round Table wants to uplift diverse faith voice and perspectives. Community members from diverse traditions will share their faith journey in conversation with the IRT director\, followed by the audience Q&A. \nFaith stories will allow us to connect\, build relationships of mutual trust\, and advance interfaith understanding in the public sphere. \nCome\, listen\, talk\, and explore the stories of diverse faith community members of all religious backgrounds. There’s no better way to learn about other faith traditions and spiritual paths in our community than by hearing the faith story directly from those who practice it. \nMeet our Guest: \nReverend Greer Cherney is an ordained ELCA Lutheran Pastor. She was ordained eight years ago and is currently serving at Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor as Community Life Pastor. Pastor Greer is from California\, went to seminary in St. Paul\, Minnesota\, and landed in Michigan to serve as a pastor. She is married to a Nichiren Buddhist who practices as part of Soka Gokkai International. Pastor Greer studied Muslim-Christian Interfaith study in Senegal\, West Africa\, and has traveled to Israel-Palestine twice on pilgrimage. Pastor Greer believes deeply in interfaith relationships\, conversation\, and learning. It is what God deserves for true Shalom for all of us. Pastor Greer\, her husband Brian\, their son\, Benjamin\, and their corgi dog\, live in Davisburg\, Michigan.
