Originally from Arequipa\, Peru\, Rosa Luz brings a unique blend of professional expertise and deep spiritual formation to her advocacy and ministry work. \nA pharmacist by training\, she spent 16 years serving disadvantaged and impoverished communities in hospitals in Peru. At the same time she volunteered with Salesian and Jesuit priests as leader in many retreats for young people and couples before emigrating to the United States. Her transition to the U.S. sparked a long-term commitment to the Latino community in Ann Arbor\, where she has served as a catechist\, reader\, translator\, and Eucharistic Minister. \nRosa Luz is deeply rooted in Ignatian spirituality\, having completed a religious formation through Boston College and the University of Notre Dame’s Camino program and received training as spiritual companionship and Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola at the Jesuit University Antonio Ruiz de Montoya of Lima Peru. This foundation in spiritual accompaniment informs her daily work as she advocates for vulnerable immigrants\, leading initiatives such as support for parishioners facing deportation\, organizing legal clinics\, mental health workshops and providing support and spiritual companionship to the Spanish-speaking parishioners. Her mission is driven by a passionate desire to ensure that all individuals—especially the unprotected and suffering—feel the love of God in their lives and strengthen their faith.”
